Arketipo wins the German Design Award

The 2025 German Design Award for Excellent Product Design - Furniture, one of the most prestigious recognitions in the design industry, has been presented to Arketipo, the latest collection from Cotto d’Este.

Since 1953, the German Design Council has been a global authority in the promotion of design, branding, and innovation, presenting annual awards through an independent jury made up of international experts from various fields, including industry, academia, and design.

This award confirms Cotto d’Este’s role as a leader on the global stage, celebrating the brand’s design excellence and its ability to combine technological innovation, quality, and aesthetic vision.

The Arketipo collection strikes the perfect balance between artisan tradition and industrial innovation, elevating ceramic design to unprecedented heights. With its elegant and minimalist style, Arketipo transforms both residential and public spaces, creating environments characterised by sophisticated aesthetics and a unique sensory quality.

“We are incredibly proud that Arketipo has so quickly gained recognition through important national and international awards. The German Design Award is yet another testament to Cotto d’Este’s quality, dedication, and vision, embodied in a collection that sets new standards in the ceramic cladding sector. Arketipo is synonymous with a new material that becomes a model to be replicated, capable of redefining trends and offering the perfect balance between modern and traditional, craftsmanship and industrial technology, aesthetics and performance,” said  Bruno Buratti, Brand Manager for Cotto d’Este.

With Arketipo, a “pure” ceramic material is born, one that breaks away from existing interpretations to instead draw inspiration from multiple sources and create an innovative combination of textures, graphics, and colour palettes. The resulting collection features a blend of grains, flakes, and sand whose density, size, and colour define the texture and give rise to two distinct versions: the first, available in two thicknesses - the iconic 14 mm and 20 mm for outdoor use - is less uniform and more expressive; the second, in ultra-thin KERLITE slabs with a thickness of 3.5 mm or 6.5 mm, is more uniform and maximises the colour’s impact.

Arketipo offers unparalleled freedom when it comes to designing spaces and establishing their aesthetic style. The wide range of formats and nuances further amplifies the creative potential of this groundbreaking collection.
