The project for the M4 Line of Milan’s metro system, designed by the Policreo architectural firm of Sergio Beccarelli and developed for the Municipality of Milan through the SPV Linea M4 SpA concessionaire, extends from the San Cristoforo stop to the Linate stop and includes the creation of 21 new stations, connecting the eastern and western outskirts of Milan. With a total value of €3.5 billion, the new metro line will be completed by the end of 2024, with the first six stations having already opened at the end of 2022.
The ceramic surfaces produced by Cotte d’Este, which meet very specific and stringent requirements of technical efficiency, material quality, aesthetics, and sustainability, have been chosen to clad 47,000 square metres of these stations. Particular importance has been given to the durability of the material, ease of maintenance and hygiene, flexibility of use, production consistency, and environmental sustainability of the coverings – all elements that Cotto d’Este’s surfaces possess and thanks to which the company has won this important public contract.
