Covering façades with porcelain stoneware gives buildings a distinctive aesthetic, while providing advanced and high-performance solutions to various technical and engineering requirements. Cotto d’Este ventilated façades consist of ceramic elements laid “dry”, in order to leave a small gap that interrupts the physical continuity with the wall behind. The façades of the Pirelli office building are covered in 14 mm custom-made porcelain stoneware, dark grey "Pirelli Stone", a product that Cotto d’Este developed to ensure the harmony of the new construction with the pre-existing buildings at the Pirelli site.
