There are two major trends in the design of spaces today: the first is linked to the demand for individual differentiation in response to an increasingly strong homogenization of styles. The other is the existence of the grand scheme for collective responsibility, the need to adopt careful and sustainable practices and policies with regards to the planet.
So it comes as no surprise then to discover that in this great dual scenario, two prominent entities in the Italian and international culture of design are to come together: Domus and Cotto d’Este, accustomed to dictating themes in the spheres of publishing and production. A dialogue will be formed through three events organised by Domus in the Cotto d’Este showroom in Milan, articulated around three big questions.
The first, on Tuesday 12 June will regard “Design for large commissions, standardisation and customisation” and will see Barreca & La Varra, Camillo Botticini and Michele De Lucchi discussing the issue of customisation linked to the production of special components or design interpretations of standard elements.
On 18 September Andrea Marcante e Adelaide Testa, partners at Marcante Testa, will talk about “Interior design, in fashion beyond fashion. The new decoration of warm interiors”, describing how interior design today is seeking warmer environments, connected to history and memory.
The final event, that will be held on 13 November, “The circularity of design,: all round sustainability”, will be led by TAM Associati e Traverso- Vighy, two practices that have always dealt with sustainability with all its forms and versions.
