À La Carte Design: Where the Art of Style Meets Cotto d’Este’s Ceramic Surfaces

The world of design has a lot in common with fine dining: a focus on high-quality raw materials, meticulous attention to detail, creativity, and innovation. Designers, much like master chefs, work with colours, textures, and styles, using their expertise to explore new ideas, patterns, and unique combinations. The concept of à la carte design embraces a philosophy that exalts a unique and tailored approach which transcends standardisation, resulting in consistently new and surprising combinations. The highest form of customisation begins with the selection of finishes: the colour of the walls, the flooring, the furnishings, and the wall coverings.

Breakfast: Serenity and Well-Being Amid Captivating Contrasts

The kitchen is where the day begins. Whether it is with a hearty breakfast at a beautifully set table, or a quick coffee on-the-go, it is always important to feel pampered as soon as you wake up, with soothing colours welcoming you into a comfortable space and, preferably, with a large window through which to enjoy the early morning light. The space should convey freshness, balance, and energy. The mineral nuances and the contrasting light and dark shades of stone evoke a sense of calm and well-being, perfect for an inspiring start to the day.

Pietra d’Iseo

Pietra d'Iseo mimics the natural beauty of Ceppo di Gré, a typical stone from Lombardy that is deeply connected to the architectural tradition of buildings, villas, and monuments in the city of Milan. The surface of this stone, with its irregular design and tone-on-tone greys, adds character and elegance to any environment, also thanks to the wide variety of formats offered and two different thicknesses (6.5 mm and 20 mm), perfect for establishing aesthetic continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces. The collection is available in two finishes: Naturale, a matte surface with a textured feel, exhibits a subtle patina effect that makes it soft and welcoming, featuring delicate nuances of colour and exceptional depth; Bocciardata, a finish that mimics a bush-hammered surface, perfect for outdoor use as it greatly enhances slip resistance.

Lunch: Elegance and Functionality at the Table

A dining room that opens onto a spacious living room is the perfect setting for a quick lunch or a meal with friends. Floors and wall coverings are essential to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that encourages entertaining and socialising. A large table with comfortable chairs complete the space, exalting both its character and functionality.  At midday, the joy of being together blends with practicality and aesthetics. Dining spaces require surfaces that combine durability and elegance.

Cluny

Cluny is a collection by Cotto d’Este that brings the intense mineral surfaces of Burgundy stone to life in 3 elegant shades, ranging from anthracite grey to luminous magnolia. This is a custom collection that mimics the natural allure of a historically popular stone on 3.5-mm-thick porcelain stoneware, featuring a large-format and consistently flat tiles that are both beautiful and durable.

After Dinner: a Jazz Club Atmosphere

As the day comes to a close, spaces transform to welcome the intimacy and elegance of the evening. The living room becomes a privileged retreat, in which comfort and harmony come together in a relaxing atmosphere.A sofa with soft lines, plush cushions, and finishes inspired by marble or dark stone, together with velvety highlights, create a sophisticated setting for relaxing or enjoying an elegant evening cocktail.

Lithos

En evolution of stone, an original aesthetic born from extensive research and relentless experimentation. The tactile quality of stone merges with the aesthetic of the rarest marbles, creatively reinterpreted by Cotto d’Este in a unique, elegant, and inspiring collection featuring a variety of surfaces. The collection also showcases the brand’s exceptional ability to design new and innovative finishes.

The surfaces in the Pietra d’Iseo, Cluny, and Lithos collections incorporate PROTECT® technology, a silver-ion-based antibacterial treatment that eliminates up to 99.9% of bacteria, making these surfaces ideal for porcelain stoneware kitchen worktops, bars, islands, and tables. The collections feature ultra-thin slabs, with thicknesses of 3.5, 5.5, and 6.5 mm, which provide designers with versatile and innovative solutions. In fact, thanks to the combination of fibreglass and the exclusive Kerlite manufacturing process, these surfaces are exceptionally durable, even in their thinnest formats. Furthermore, the slabs are highly eco-friendly as they require fewer raw materials and less energy to be produced and generate less CO2 emissions during transport. Not only that, but the emissions calculated throughout their entire product lifecycle are fully offset.
